Privacy Policy
How this website handles your data — and how the app keeps your hardware data on your device.
Last updated: June 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the HardwareVisualizer website (hardviz.com) handles information. Our goal is to collect as little as possible.
The app processes your data on your device
The HardwareVisualizer desktop application reads your hardware and system metrics entirely on your own device. It does not send your hardware data, system information, or usage to our servers. Because the app is open source, you can verify this in the source code. This policy covers the website only, not the application.
Website analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic such as page views, referrers, and device type. Analytics load only after you accept the cookie banner — until then, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent. When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data (including your IP address and a randomized identifier) on Google’s infrastructure on our behalf.
You can accept or decline analytics from the banner. If you decline, nothing is loaded. To change your choice later, clear this site’s data in your browser. See also how Google uses your data.
Survey (feedback form)
We run an optional feedback survey using Tally, embedded on our survey page. A response is only sent when you choose to submit the form. We use responses to understand how the app is used and to decide what to improve.
A submission includes:
- Your answers to the survey questions (all optional except two: your overall satisfaction and whether you plan to keep using the app).
- Some non-identifying context attached automatically so we can group feedback, depending on how you reached the form: your entry point (app or website) and interface language, and — when you open the survey from the app — the app version and operating system (Windows/macOS/Linux). None of these identify you, and we never attach your hardware details.
- An optional contact (GitHub username or email) — only if you choose to provide one so we can follow up.
Responses are anonymous unless you add a contact. As the form processor, Tally may record limited technical metadata (such as your IP address) on its own infrastructure; see Tally’s privacy policy. We may publish aggregated, anonymized summaries of the results (for example in GitHub Discussions), but never individual contact details or raw personal information.
Cookies & local storage
No analytics cookies are set unless you consent. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics stores cookies to tell visitors apart. Your theme preference (light or dark) is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site can remember it; this is not personal information and is never sent to our servers.
Hosting
The website is hosted on Cloudflare. As with most web hosts, Cloudflare may process limited technical data such as IP addresses in server logs for security and reliable delivery. Web fonts are self-hosted, so no third-party font service receives your data.
External links
Our pages link to external sites such as GitHub. Those services have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
